How can I get online writing assistance for my classes?

Your best resource is your professor. They can answer questions, suggest great learning resources like videos and websites, connect you with classmates, and guide you through your course.

In addition, students have access to free online tutoring provided by ThinkingStorm. This service provides convenient and comprehensive online support in writing for any course and is available 7 days a week, from 10 am- 4 am. Students have access to 10 hours per semester.


To access online tutoring for writing:

1) Click on the Online Tutoring link on your course's BlackBoard site to log in to ThinkingStorm
2) Click the Get Started button next to Writing Center Tutoring

3) Follow the instructions to submit your paper and receive strong feedback within 24 hours

To access online tutoring for math, science, or statistics:

1) Click on the Online Tutoring link on your course's BlackBoard site to log in to ThinkingStorm
2) Click the Go Now button next to Drop-In Tutoring

3) Follow the prompts to work with someone in real time

1) Click on the Online Tutoring link on your course's BlackBoard site to log in to ThinkingStorm
2) Click the Book Now button next to Reserve an Appointment

3) Follow the prompts to set up an appointment to work with someone in real time

4) When it is your appointment time, follow the prompts under Start Online Appointment

Virtual Academic Coaching

What is Virtual Academic Coaching?

Virtual Academic Coaching teaches students skills and strategies to help them become confident and independent learners, no matter what subject they are tackling. Students meet with a trained academic coach via an online platform.

How is Virtual Academic Coaching different from Online Tutoring?

Online Tutoring works on specific content questions; Virtual Academic Coaching helps you with general skills such as organization, test taking, or online learning strategies.
