An orientation to FCC's library resources via a virtual platform

Research Paper!? PANIC!

You look at your syllabus - the bold letters Research Paper grab your attention. You go to the assignment description, and it's something like

"You must write a 7 - 10 page paper arguing for or against some social issue or approach to a social problem. You must use no fewer than four scholarly sources. You must use library resources, and cannot use open websites such as wikipedia"

  • What the heck is a scholarly source?
  • Where do you even find scholarly sources?
  • Why can't you use wikipedia?!

No need to panic! The Bess and Frank Gladhill Learning Commons Virtual Library Orientation will answer all of these questions - and more! After completing this library orientation you should be able to meet all of your research projects with confidence; and if you hit a stumbling block, just use the ask us link located on the left of the page to get in touch with one of our librarians - we are always happy to help!
